Overview & My Role;
Project Overview
Shane is a platform helping users find and support LGBTQ+ friendly locations. I redesigned and built their mobile app (with the CTO) in just 2 months using FlutterFlow, transforming an unintuitive web tool into an intuitive, mobile-first experience.
My Role
Product Designer & Builder – Led app design and UX improvements
FlutterFlow Development – Built the MVP (more like v1) with the CTO (first time using FF)
Analytics Implementation – Integrated Amplitude + UXCam for user insights
App Store Management – Managed all releases for iOS and Android
The Challenge;
Shane’s web app existed as a simple searchable map, but the experience wasn’t intuitive and lacked a strong mobile presence. The goal:
Create a mobile-first experience for users
Improve the search flow to make discovery effortless
Launch an MVP fast with minimal resources
Integrate other features like lists to save places, an alert system with emergency contacts, a simple rate and review process, and more
The Process;
First I met with the CEO/founder to define MVP features and functionality
Designed an onboarding flow that encouraged users to add emergency contacts and enable location sharing, balancing safety needs with a seamless first-time experience
Redesigned the search experience to make it simple and intuitive
Built the app in FlutterFlow with the CTO — learning and shipping simultaneously
Implemented analytics (Amplitude, UXCam) for data-driven decisions
Managed end-to-end releases to the App Store and Google Play
Outcome & Key Takeaway;
The Outcome
From concept to stores in under 2 months
140+ users gained in under 1 month with minimal marketing
Second iteration of search launched post-MVP for even better usability
Key Takeaway
This project highlights my ability to design, problem-solve, and ship fast (even when learning new tools) and to deliver a functional, user-friendly product under tight timelines.
